Mayor Gene Brown to Address Bradenton’s Water Infrastructure Issues at Public Forum
Bradenton Mayor Gene Brown and his staff will participate in a public forum on Wednesday, March 26, to discuss ongoing sewage spills and infrastructure challenges affecting the city’s water systems. Hosted by the Manatee Democratic Environmental Caucus, the event will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Bradenton Woman’s Club, 1705 Manatee Ave W, Bradenton. It will provide residents with an opportunity to engage directly with city officials on critical water quality concerns.
The forum will feature a Q&A session, allowing residents to question Mayor Brown about the city’s response to repeated sewage spills that have impacted Bradenton’s waterways, public health, and local economy. Officials will also outline plans for infrastructure updates aimed at preventing future contamination.
Ruth Lawler, chair of the Manatee Democratic Environmental Caucus, emphasized the importance of addressing water quality concerns and hearing directly from the mayor about the steps to improve the city’s water systems.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to sign the Florida Right to Clean Water petition, a citizen-led initiative seeking to establish clean and healthy waters as a fundamental right in the Florida Constitution and to hold polluters accountable. More information about the amendment can be found at floridarighttocleanwater.org.
Residents concerned about water quality and infrastructure improvements are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.
