MCR Health is exploring the possibility of establishing a school-based health center at Myakka City Elementary School and is inviting residents to help shape the proposal.
The effort is being conducted in partnership with Results 1st and Myakka Elementary School as part of a community feasibility study. Organizers are seeking input from families and residents about local healthcare needs and the potential services a school-based center could provide.
Two community events are scheduled at Myakka City Elementary School. The first will be a Community Town Hall on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 6 to 7 p.m. Light drinks and snacks will be provided.
A second Town Hall and Health Fair will be held Saturday, Sept. 26. The health fair will run from 9 a.m. to noon, with the town hall portion scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m. Vendors and food for purchase are also planned.
Community members will have an opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback and discuss healthcare needs affecting local students and families. The information gathered will help guide the planning process and determine potential next steps for the proposed health center.
