Mega pet adoption event in Manatee County

The Palmetto Adoption Center is one of several shelters where you can pick out a new pet as part of the state-wide Petco Love Florida Mega pet adoption event.

All Manatee County Animal Welfare shelters and Petco Pet Care Centers are taking part in the weekend event.

Between July 28-30, pet adoption fees are waived, and cats and dogs come spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

Animal shelter officials said they get a lot of animals in the summer, and events like this help them manage the influx.
