Morgan Johnson Road Closure Scheduled for Summer Improvement Project
Motorists traveling through eastern Manatee County should prepare for a temporary road closure beginning June 1 as crews start a roadway improvement project along Morgan Johnson Road (57th Street East).
The closure will remain in effect through July 31 while Manatee County completes a right-turn lane extension, along with sidewalk and drainage improvements, on Morgan Johnson Road between 38th Avenue East and 44th Avenue East.
According to county officials, the project is designed to improve traffic flow and enhance pedestrian safety in the area. Construction activities will include extending the existing right-turn lane, upgrading drainage infrastructure and adding new sidewalk segments.
During the closure, drivers will be directed to use a designated detour route. The posted detour follows 44th Avenue East, 62nd Street East and 38th Avenue East to bypass the work zone. Residents and commuters are encouraged to allow extra travel time and remain alert for construction crews, equipment and temporary traffic control devices.
County officials are also reminding motorists to follow advance warning signs and use caution when traveling near the construction area.
Additional information about current road closures and project updates is available through Manatee County’s transportation and public works resources. The county thanked residents and travelers for their patience as the improvements are completed.
