MSA Alumni Shine on Shakira’s Tour Stage, Inspiring the Next Generation of Dancers
Two Manatee School for the Arts (MSA) alumni took center stage this week, performing together for the first time as part of global music icon Shakira’s North American concert tour. Halle Henry (Class of 2018) and Siara Hernandez (Class of 2020), both graduates of the MSA Dance Department, brought their talents to a sold-out arena show, marking a proud milestone in their blossoming professional dance careers.
Their appearance on tour follows previous high-profile performances with Shakira, including the 2024 Grammy Awards. Halle also recently completed the South American leg of the tour, danced alongside the Colombian superstar on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and managed to graduate with her bachelor’s degree the very next morning in Georgia — a remarkable testament to her commitment and drive.
Both dancers remain deeply connected to their alma mater. In December, Halle returned to MSA for an alumni Q&A with current dance students, sharing insight from her journey. Just two weeks ago, Siara visited the school to teach a hip hop class to advanced-level students, continuing her tradition of giving back.
Their accomplishments reflect the mission and impact of Manatee School for the Arts. Located in Palmetto, MSA was established in 1998 as a public charter school with a unique focus on integrating academic achievement with visual and performing arts. Serving students in grades 6–12, the school offers specialized tracks in dance, music, theater, creative writing, and the visual arts. It has become a regional leader in arts education, nurturing talent and creativity while promoting academic rigor.
Shakira, born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, is a globally renowned singer, songwriter, and performer known for her energetic stage presence and fusion of Latin, pop, and world music. Since her international breakout in the early 2000s, she has sold over 80 million records, won three Grammy Awards, and earned acclaim for hits like “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Whenever, Wherever,” and “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).” Her collaborations with top artists and dynamic live shows have made her a fixture on the global stage.
As Halle and Siara continue to build impressive resumes, their dedication and artistry exemplify what it means to “live the arts.” Manatee School for the Arts celebrates their achievements and looks forward to seeing how these inspiring young professionals will continue to light up stages around the world.
