Multiple Florida School Districts Receive Hoax Threats; Manatee Officials Confirm No Credible Danger
More than 40 school districts across Florida received anonymous bomb threats via email Tuesday evening, prompting widespread law enforcement investigations and heightened security measures.
Officials in Manatee County confirmed that their district was among those targeted. In a message sent to families and staff on Wednesday morning, district leaders said the threat appeared to be a phishing scam but was taken seriously and immediately reported to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities and school officials emphasized that there is no indication of any credible danger to schools or students. Classes and district operations continued as normal on Wednesday, though additional precautions were in place as investigations proceeded.
Similar messages were received by districts throughout Central and South Florida, all appearing to follow the same format and originating from a single source. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI are assisting local agencies in tracing the emails.
Manatee County Schools reiterated its commitment to student safety and thanked families and staff for their cooperation while law enforcement works to identify the sender.
