Multiple Vehicle Burglaries Reported in Palmetto Neighborhood Overnight

PALMETTO — Several unlocked vehicles were burglarized overnight between Tuesday, August 5, and the early hours of Wednesday morning, prompting a renewed reminder from law enforcement for residents to secure their vehicles.

The Palmetto Police Department said the incidents occurred on 7th and 8th Street West, between 10th Avenue West and 14th Avenue West. Authorities confirmed that all the targeted vehicles were left unlocked, making them easy targets for opportunistic thieves.

Police are urging the public to take the simple precaution of locking vehicle doors, noting that this action alone can prevent the vast majority of vehicle break-ins.

In an effort to identify those responsible, investigators are asking residents in the affected area to review their home surveillance footage for any suspicious activity. Any relevant video should be forwarded to Sgt. Mathews at MMathews@PalmettoPolice.com.
