NAMI to Offer Family-to-Family Mental Health Education Class at Lakewood Ranch YMCA
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Sarasota and Manatee Counties will offer an eight-week Family-to-Family Education Class beginning February 11 at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA. The free program is designed for family members, significant others, and friends of individuals living with mental health conditions.
Classes will be held every Wednesday from February 11 through April 1, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA, located at 5100 Lakewood Ranch Boulevard in Bradenton. Participation requires advance registration, and space is limited.
The Family-to-Family program provides education, practical skills, and peer support to help participants better understand mental health conditions and navigate the challenges that can affect individuals and their families. Topics covered include effective communication and problem-solving strategies, stress management and self-care, supporting loved ones with compassion, understanding current treatments and therapies, and learning how mental health conditions impact the entire family. The course also includes information on local support services and guidance on handling crisis situations.
The program is facilitated by trained volunteers with lived experience and is offered at no cost to participants as part of NAMI’s ongoing community education efforts.
