New Manatee Belle Ferry Begins Service Between Bradenton and Anna Maria Island
Manatee County’s Gulf Islands Ferry service has launched its new and larger vessel, the Manatee Belle, marking a significant addition to transportation options between downtown Bradenton and Anna Maria Island.
The Manatee Belle completed its passenger-carrying maiden voyage on Saturday, April 11, departing from the Bradenton Riverwalk Pier at approximately 10 a.m. and traveling to the Bradenton Beach Pier. The new ferry represents an upgrade in capacity and service for riders traveling between the mainland and the island.
Later in the day, just before 1 p.m., passengers began boarding for the vessel’s second trip to Bradenton Beach. At approximately 1:25 p.m., the Manatee Belle departed its slip and headed toward the Green Bridge, continuing its route across the Manatee River and into the Intracoastal Waterway.
The introduction of the new ferry occurred without a formal public announcement from the county. Some passengers reported they were unaware they would be riding the new vessel when purchasing tickets in advance, making the experience an unexpected debut for many on board.
The Gulf Islands Ferry service continues to provide an alternative to vehicle travel, helping reduce congestion on roadways leading to Anna Maria Island while offering a scenic route for residents and visitors.
Tickets for the ferry can be purchased online through the Bradenton Gulf Islands website, where riders can find schedules, pricing, and additional details about the service.
