New Plane-Spotting Park Opens at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport
A newly upgraded plane-spotting area has been unveiled at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, providing aviation enthusiasts and families with an enhanced viewing experience. The project, a collaboration between the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority and Manatee County, replaces a previously unpaved area with a modern, aviation-themed observation park.
Designed by Sweet Sparkman Architecture & Interiors, the revamped site features “The Wing,” an aluminum shade structure, and an aviation-themed playground sponsored by Allegiant Air. Visitors can enjoy real-time air traffic communications from speakers on the 825-square-foot observation deck, while informational displays provide insights into the airport’s history and operations. Seating has also been added for enhanced comfort.
Located off 301 Boulevard East/15th Street East across from Lindbergh Court, the upgraded site offers an engaging space for residents and visitors to experience aviation up close. Manatee County Government and the airport authority jointly fund the $2.2 million project.
