New Year’s Eve Safety Reminder: Burn Ban Extended Across Manatee County
As New Year’s Eve approaches, officials are reminding residents that the countywide burn ban remains in effect across Manatee County through Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., as dry, drought-like, and windy conditions continue to elevate fire risk.
The extended burn ban prohibits the use or discharge of fireworks, sparklers, flares, campfires, and all forms of outdoor burning. Public safety officials emphasize that even small sparks can quickly ignite brush or structures, leading to fast-moving and dangerous fires that threaten neighborhoods, natural areas, and first responders.
Outdoor grilling is still permitted, provided grills are actively attended by a responsible adult at all times. In addition, properly permitted public fireworks displays may proceed, provided appropriate fire-suppression measures are in place and safety protocols are followed.
Residents are encouraged to celebrate responsibly and remain mindful of the heightened fire danger. By following the burn ban and safety guidelines, the community can help protect lives, property, and Manatee County’s natural landscapes while ringing in the New Year safely.
