Nine Bids Submitted for Anna Maria City Pier Reconstruction
Construction companies have submitted nine proposals to rebuild the Anna Maria City Pier, which sustained heavy damage during the 2024 hurricane season. The bidding process opened on September 12, and the city has 30 days to evaluate the submissions.
The reconstruction project is expected to cost around $8 million. Funding will come from a combination of federal, state, county, and city sources. Earlier this year, Anna Maria received a $1.25 million state grant through Florida’s $117.14 billion budget, signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in June. Additional financial support is anticipated from Manatee County and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Mayor Mark Short will review the proposals and present his top recommendation to the city commission. Specific bid amounts and details will remain confidential until that recommendation is made.
The reconstruction of the pier is considered a key step in restoring a historic landmark and vital community asset.
