No Solid Waste Collection Monday for MLK Day; Pickup Delayed One Day This Week
Residents across Manatee County should plan for a one-day delay in solid waste services on Monday, January 19, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
According to Manatee County Government, there will be no garbage, recycling, or yard waste collection on Monday. As a result, all residential solid waste pickup scheduled for the week of January 19 will shift forward by one day.
Under the adjusted schedule, Monday’s collection will take place on Tuesday, January 20; Tuesday’s on Wednesday, January 21; Wednesday’s on Thursday, January 22; Thursday’s on Friday, January 23; and Friday’s on Saturday, January 24. Normal collection schedules will resume on Monday, January 26.
County officials also note that the Lena Road Landfill will be closed on January 19 in observance of the holiday.
Residents with questions about their specific pickup day or container service can find additional information through the county’s Big Bin Advantage program at mymanatee.org/bigbin. Residents living within municipalities or areas served by different waste haulers are encouraged to check directly with their local provider for holiday schedules.
The service pause coincides with the national observance honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and applies only to county-operated solid waste services.
