North River Initiative to Release Community-Driven Vision for Future Growth on May 17
As growth continues to accelerate across North River in Manatee County, residents are playing an active role in shaping the future of their community through a collaborative, community-led initiative.
Since late last year, neighbors from across the region have participated in conversations focused on identifying shared priorities, everyday challenges and long-term aspirations. The effort has centered on understanding what matters most to residents and how the area can grow while maintaining a strong sense of community.
The next phase of that work will be unveiled during a keynote presentation scheduled for May 17 at The Worthington for Events in Ellenton. The gathering will mark the official release of the report, Growing Together in North River Manatee County: Shaping a Shared Future, which highlights key findings from months of community input.
The initiative is supported by The Patterson Foundation, The Bishop-Parker Foundation and The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation, organizations known for their work in strengthening civic culture and fostering community-driven solutions nationwide.
The report will be made available ahead of the event, allowing attendees to review its findings before participating in a broader discussion about next steps. The May 17 gathering will focus on sharing insights, exploring implications for the region’s continued growth, and identifying opportunities for residents, organizations and leaders to work together moving forward.
Community leaders say the effort comes at a critical time, as rapid development raises questions about how North River can grow in a way that unites residents rather than fragments them. The initiative aims to ensure that future planning reflects the voices and priorities of those who live and work in the area.
The event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. and is expected to bring together residents, stakeholders and community partners committed to shaping a shared vision for North River’s future.
