One Airlifted After Serious Crash Near SeaPort Manatee Shuts Down U.S. 41
One person was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition following a serious crash Friday afternoon in front of SeaPort Manatee.
Emergency crews from the North River Fire District responded just before 3 p.m. to the intersection of U.S. 41 North and South Dock Street, where a crash involving a commercial vehicle resulted in what officials described as "heavy entrapment."
Authorities did not release additional details about the vehicles involved or the circumstances leading up to the incident. The severity of the crash prompted the closure of all northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 41 in the area during the emergency response.
By Friday evening, the roadway had been cleared and reopened to traffic. The condition of the individual transported remains critical, and no other injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
