One Killed, Two Seriously Injured After Mustang Runs Red Light in Bradenton Crash
One person was killed and two others were seriously injured Sunday afternoon following a crash at a busy Bradenton intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of 53rd Avenue West and 20th Street West.
Troopers reported that a Ford Mustang driven by a 19-year-old Bradenton man was traveling westbound on 53rd Avenue West in the right lane and approaching a red traffic signal. At the same time, a Ford F-150 driven by a 38-year-old Bradenton man was traveling southbound on 20th Street West in the left turn lane with a green light and began turning left onto eastbound 53rd Avenue West.
Investigators said the Mustang continued through the red light and entered the intersection, striking the pickup truck.
A 53-year-old Sarasota man who was a passenger in the truck was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries and later pronounced dead.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation, and charges are pending, according to troopers.
