Palma Sola Botanical Park Nears Fundraising Goal for Major Upgrades
Palma Sola Botanical Park is three-quarters of the way to meeting its fundraising goal for a critical infrastructure project. The park has already secured 74 percent of its target through a matching grant challenge that doubles community contributions made before December 1, 2025.
The Bishop Parker Foundation has pledged $57,000 toward the initiative, which will fund the complete reconstruction of the park’s wooden walkways, stairs, and ramps with modern composite decking. Built more than 25 years ago, these structures have weathered decades of use and storm damage, making replacement a pressing need as attendance continues to grow.
Donations of $1,000 or more will be permanently commemorated with names or businesses engraved in the new decking, ensuring lasting recognition for supporters.
Founded in 1993, Palma Sola Botanical Park spans 10 acres in northwest Bradenton and was established through a partnership among community leaders, garden clubs, and local government. The park was created on land once slated for development, transforming it into a public green space that showcases a wide variety of tropical plants, flowering trees, and rare palms. Over the years, it has become a community treasure, offering educational programs, events, and a tranquil space for visitors of all ages.
Now entering its 32nd year, the park’s Board of Directors is working on a long-term plan to enhance the gardens while preserving their original charm. The addition of two newly acquired acres will expand opportunities for future growth, while current projects focus on strengthening infrastructure and improving the visitor experience.
Park leaders say this is a pivotal moment to invest in the future of Palma Sola Botanical Park, with the matching grant providing a unique opportunity to maximize the impact of community giving.
