Palmetto Man Charged with Multi-Million Dollar Tax Evasion Scheme
Federal prosecutors have charged a Palmetto man with evading more than $2 million in taxes and submitting false returns over multiple years. According to the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida, Terry Brunning, 64, faces one count of tax evasion and four counts of filing false income tax returns.
Authorities allege Brunning deliberately underreported his income to avoid paying his full tax obligations. The charges stem from an investigation into financial discrepancies spanning several years. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison for tax evasion and an additional three years for each false return charge.
The case highlights ongoing federal efforts to combat tax fraud and hold individuals accountable for financial misconduct.
