Palmetto Woman Identified as Victim in Fatal Manatee County Boat Crash

Authorities have identified the woman who died following a single-vessel boating crash in Manatee County on July 5.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Felicia J. Taylor, 41, of Palmetto, died after a 24-foot boat carrying seven people crashed into mangroves while leaving Flounder Pass and entering Terra Ceia Bay.

The FWC reported that multiple agencies, including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and Manatee County Fire Rescue, responded to the scene. Two occupants of the boat were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Taylor later died from her injuries. The condition of the second hospitalized occupant has not been released.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
