Plans for a new community garden at Parrish Community Park will be the focus of the Parrish Civic Association’s next community meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
The meeting will be held in the media center at Parrish Community High School, 7505 Fort Hamer Road. The guest speaker presentation and public forum will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the association’s board meeting from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
Representatives from Manatee County and the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension will present the proposed plan for the community garden.
Scheduled speakers include David Shurmer, Parks Operations Manager; Carmine DeMilio, Deputy Director of Parks and County Grounds; and Mack Lessig, Residential Horticulture Agent I.
The presentation will include proposed renderings and information about how the community garden would operate. Residents will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide input about what they would like to see included in the project.
The meeting will also include community updates from the Parrish Civic Association.
