Parrish Civic Association to Host Hurricane Preparedness Presentation and Award Inaugural Scholarship
The Parrish Civic Association will hold its next community meeting on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Parrish Community High School Media Center, located at 7505 Fort Hamer Road in Parrish.
The evening will begin with a guest speaker presentation and public forum from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the association’s board meeting from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Community members are invited and encouraged to attend.
Jennifer Rodriguez, coordinator for public safety and emergency management with Manatee County Emergency Management, will serve as the featured speaker. Her presentation will focus on hurricane preparedness as the region enters the 2026 hurricane season.
Topics will include emergency planning, evacuation procedures, disaster supply essentials, coordination efforts among emergency management and response agencies, weather monitoring, safety measures, and post-storm recovery guidance. The presentation is designed to help residents better prepare their families and homes before severe weather threatens the area.
The meeting will also include the presentation of the inaugural Norma Kennedy Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a 2026 graduate of Parrish Community High School, marking the launch of a new recognition program by the Parrish Civic Association.
In addition to the featured presentation and scholarship award, attendees will receive updates on community issues and local developments affecting the Parrish area. The event is being hosted in partnership with the Parrish Area Business Alliance and is open to the public.
