Parrish Man Dies After Crash on I-75 Triggered by Illegal Tractor-Trailer U-Turn
A 28-year-old man from Parrish has died following a serious crash on Interstate 75 near the Hillsborough-Manatee County line that was caused when a tractor-trailer attempted an illegal U-turn and collided with his vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers reported that northbound traffic was slowed Monday afternoon because of an unrelated vehicle fire near the Sun City Center exit when the tractor-trailer, driven by a 45-year-old Citrus Springs man, tried to make an unlawful U-turn into the southbound lanes. The tractor-trailer entered the path of a Toyota Corolla driven by the Parrish man and the two vehicles collided.
The Parrish man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and later died from those injuries, the Highway Patrol said Wednesday. The truck driver was not hurt in the crash but was arrested and charged with reckless driving with serious injury. (
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether charges will be upgraded following the death of the Parrish man.
