Passenger Dies After Early Morning Crash Near Sunshine Skyway Bridge
A woman died early Sunday following a single-vehicle crash near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge after the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 4 a.m. on Nov. 23 as a man was traveling south on Interstate 275 with three passengers. Investigators say the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway, and collided with both a tree and a guardrail.
A 27-year-old female passenger was ejected during the impact. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The driver and the two remaining passengers were not injured. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
