Pedestrian Injured in Anna Maria Crosswalk Collision
An 80-year-old woman was injured Thursday, Jan. 8, after being struck by a pickup truck in a crosswalk near the Pine Avenue and Bay Boulevard intersection in the City of Anna Maria.
According to Sgt. Brett Getman of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Anna Maria Unit reported that the vehicle was traveling southbound on North Bay Boulevard toward the City Pier. The driver reportedly came to a complete stop at the three-way stop before proceeding south and striking the pedestrian as she crossed within the marked crosswalk.
Emergency responders transported the woman by ambulance to HCA Florida Blake Hospital for treatment of her injuries. An Anna Maria Unit deputy and two city code enforcement officers responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control while awaiting the arrival of a trooper from the Florida Highway Patrol to conduct the investigation.
As of Friday, authorities had not released any additional information regarding the late-morning to early-afternoon incident.
