Pedestrian Killed After Being Run Over by Dump Truck at Parrish Construction Site
A 53-year-old Tampa man was killed Wednesday after being run over by a dump truck at a construction site in Parrish, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around noon at a new subdivision under construction near Diamond Reef Drive and Bella Mar Trail. Authorities said the pedestrian was assisting the dump truck driver as the vehicle backed up on the site.
During the maneuver, the pedestrian reportedly tripped and fell while the truck was rolling in reverse. Investigators said he was unable to move out of the way before being struck by the truck’s right-side tires.
Manatee County Emergency Medical Services pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. No additional details were immediately available.
