Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Crash on U.S. 41 in Manatee County

A 43-year-old Palmetto man was killed early Wednesday morning after being struck by an SUV in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 1:20 a.m. May 6 at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Scale Avenue.

Investigators said a 27-year-old Sarasota woman was driving a 2008 Cadillac Escalade when the vehicle collided with the pedestrian. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was not injured in the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
