Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on 15th Street East
A pedestrian died Friday night in a hit-and-run crash along 15th Street East in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 8:02 p.m. on September 12, north of 49th Avenue East. Troopers reported that a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado pickup, driven by 38-year-old Arnulfo Carranza Dominguez of Bradenton, struck a 46-year-old Bradenton man who was walking along the roadway. The pedestrian came to rest on the east shoulder and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities confirmed that his next of kin has been notified.
After the initial crash, Dominguez left the scene in the pickup. The vehicle was later involved in a second crash on 9th Street East near 44th Avenue East. Following that collision, Dominguez fled on foot but was apprehended shortly afterward.
Troopers arrested Dominguez and booked him into the Manatee County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including leaving the scene of a crash involving death, DUI, property damage, no driver’s license, and violation of probation.
The Florida Highway Patrol also reported that Dominguez is an undocumented immigrant. The investigation remains ongoing.
