Pimentel’s Ninth Inning Heroics Soars Marauders Past Blue Jays
Garcia homers for a second time, Bradenton’s winning streak moves to six games
Antonio Pimentel crushed a go-ahead solo homer in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bradenton Marauders (15-13) over the Dunedin Blue Jays (11-17) 3-2 on Tuesday from TD Ballpark. Jhostynxon Garcia homered for a second time and Bradenton increased their winning streak to six games.
Bradenton began the scoring in the top of the third against Dunedin starter Dylan Watts. Richard Ramirez doubled and scored on a single from Dylan Palmer to make it a 1-0 ballgame.
In the top of the fourth, Garcia belted a solo blast to left off Watts to make it 2-0.
Dunedin tied the game with an RBI double by Dariel Ramon in the bottom of the fifth and a solo homer from Yorman Licourt in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the ninth, Pimentel blasted a solo homer off Blue Jays reliever Jack Eshleman to give the Marauders a 3-2 lead.
Bradenton reliever Noah Takacs slammed the door in the bottom of the ninth, finalizing a 3-2 win for the Marauders.
Takacs (1-3) earned the win, letting up two hits with three strikeouts over 2.0 scoreless innings. Eshleman took the loss (1-1), allowing a run on a homer over 1.0 frame.
The Marauders and Blue Jays play game two of a six-game series on Wednesday from TD Ballpark with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. RHP Jack Anker (2-1, 6.19) takes the ball for Bradenton, while RHP Brayden Heidel (0-2, 7.30) is on the mound for Dunedin.
