Raised Intersection Construction Underway on Morgan Johnson Road to Improve Safety
Construction is continuing on Morgan Johnson Road as Manatee County crews build a raised intersection at 32nd Avenue East as part of ongoing roadway improvement efforts aimed at enhancing safety for drivers.
The project marks the second location along Morgan Johnson Road where a raised intersection is being installed. The design is intended to increase driver awareness when approaching the crossing and naturally slow traffic by elevating the intersection above the surrounding roadway.
Raised intersections function similarly to speed tables, encouraging motorists to reduce speed while approaching the crossing point. County officials say the improvements are designed to help reduce vehicle speeds and improve overall roadway safety for motorists traveling through the area.
Work crews have been actively preparing the site, placing forms and reinforcing materials as construction progresses. Traffic control measures and temporary lane adjustments may be in place while work continues.
The Morgan Johnson Road improvements are part of Manatee County’s broader efforts to upgrade road infrastructure and address safety concerns on growing corridors across the county.
