Ramirez Smokes Third Homer in Two Games, Marauders Winning Streak Ends at Three
Iredale earns seventh homer of the year, Reeder’s on-base streak reaches 17 games
Richard Ramirez smoked his third home run in two games and ninth homer during the month of July, but the Bradenton Marauders (13-17, 44-51) took an 11-3 loss to the Daytona Tortugas (17-12, 38-57) on Tuesday from Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Brent Iredale connected for his seventh homer of the season, while Canon Reeder extended his on-base streak to 17 games with a walk.
After a five-run bottom of the first by Daytona, Bradenton answered back in the top of the second. Ramirez socked a solo homer to make it a 5-1 ballgame.
The Tortugas scored again in the bottom of the second, but the Marauders bounced back in the top of the fifth. Iredale smacked a solo home run, cutting the deficit, 6-2.
In the top of the eighth, Eddie King Jr. doubled and came around to score on a double from Edgleen Perez to make it a 6-3 ballgame
Daytona gathered six runs in the bottom of the eighth, and Bradenton went scoreless the rest of the way to finalize an 11-3 win for the Tortugas.
Justin Henschel (2-6) notched the win, letting up two runs on four hits, two walks, and five strikeouts over 5.0 frames. Ronaldo Gallo (0-1) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits, a walk, and a strikeout over 0.2 innings.
The Marauders and Tortugas play game two of a six-game series on Wednesday with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
