Report Ranks 14th Street West in Manatee County as Nation’s Most Dangerous Road
A recent study has identified 14th Street West in Manatee County as the most dangerous road in the United States.
The report, published by Jason Stone Injury Lawyers, analyzed crash data from 2019 through 2023 using the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System. Findings showed that 14th Street West experienced 21 fatal crashes across just 3.11 miles, averaging 6.75 crashes per mile. The study also recorded 16 pedestrian-involved crashes along the roadway.
While 14th Street West topped the national list, other Florida roads were also highlighted. In Miami-Dade County, State Highway 817 ranked as the 27th most dangerous road in the U.S., with 45 fatalities and 25 pedestrian-involved crashes over 15.58 miles, averaging 2.89 crashes per mile.
The rankings highlight the concentration of traffic fatalities in specific areas, underscoring ongoing safety concerns for both drivers and pedestrians along major Florida corridors.
