Rural Road Rejuvenation Work Set for Early March in Manatee County
Manatee County Public Works will begin rural road rejuvenation work during the first week of March as part of its ongoing pavement management efforts to extend the life of local roadways and improve driving conditions.
Residents in affected areas will receive advance notice before work begins. Contractors will place door hangers at homes one to two days prior to the scheduled application.
When crews arrive, a specialized truck will spray a rejuvenating treatment onto the roadway surface. The product, which appears pink when first applied, helps restore flexibility and durability to aging asphalt. After application, the road will remain open but will require a 30-minute curing period. During that time, motorists are asked to drive slowly and use caution.
Once curing is complete, a layer of sand will be applied to absorb any excess material and reduce tracking. The sand will remain in place for 24 to 48 hours before crews sweep it up.
No roadways will be fully closed during the process. However, drivers should expect alternating lane patterns, slow-moving construction vehicles and intermittent delays in work zones. Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly and use caution when traveling through treated areas.
The rejuvenation program is designed to preserve existing pavement, extend roadway lifespan and provide safer, smoother travel throughout Manatee County’s rural communities.
