Salvation Army of Manatee County Breaks Ground on Dann Bouwer Community Pavilion
Article:
Halfacre Construction Company, a commercial contractor headquartered in Lakewood Ranch, has broken ground on a new outdoor facility for The Salvation Army of Manatee County. The Dann Bouwer Community Pavilion will serve as a versatile space for local youth programs, sports, church events, and community gatherings.
The pavilion, to be built at 5328 24th Street in Bradenton, will feature an open-air sports court with large overhead fans, restrooms, and storage areas. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of June and is expected to wrap up by the end of October. A future second phase will add a splash pad adjacent to the structure.
The pavilion is named in memory of Dann Bouwer, a longtime supporter of The Salvation Army's work in Manatee County. Bouwer was known for his commitment to community service and his generous support of local causes, both of which he continued until his recent passing.
The Salvation Army of Manatee County has served the local community since 1923. Over the past century, the organization has provided emergency shelter, hot meals, disaster relief, housing assistance, rehabilitation programs, and support for individuals and families facing hardship. Its Bradenton campus is home to multiple social service programs aimed at helping residents achieve stability and self-sufficiency.
Once complete, the new pavilion will expand The Salvation Army’s ability to offer recreational and outreach activities for children and families, reinforcing its ongoing mission of meeting human needs without discrimination.
