Salvation Army of Manatee County Seeks Volunteers to Support Meals, Shelter and Disaster Response
The Salvation Army of Manatee County is calling on community members to volunteer as the organization works to meet growing needs while many of its regular volunteers are away during the summer months.
Located at 1204 14th Street West in Bradenton, the nonprofit provides more than 200 meals each day and offers shelter and support services to veterans, children and families facing difficult circumstances. On an average day, the organization assists between 30 and 40 children and their families through its various programs.
One of the most immediate volunteer opportunities is helping serve community meals. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to assist with serving free hot dinners to shelter residents and community members in need. Individuals can volunteer weekly or participate a few times each month, depending on their availability.
The organization is also recruiting volunteers for its Emergency Disaster Services team. These volunteers help support residents during hurricanes, severe weather events and other emergencies by providing meals, supplies and emotional support to those affected.
Disaster response volunteer opportunities include serving on food services teams that prepare and distribute meals to survivors and first responders, emotional and spiritual care teams that provide encouragement and support during crises, and emergency supply distribution teams that deliver essential items such as water, food and cleanup kits to impacted communities.
Salvation Army officials say volunteers play a vital role in helping the organization continue its mission of providing hope, care and essential services throughout Manatee County. Those interested in volunteering can contact The Salvation Army of Manatee County at 941-748-5110 or visit its website for additional information and registration opportunities.
