Sanford and Ramirez Homer, Marauders Punched by Mighty Mussels

King Jr. extends on-base streak to 23 games, Tre Phelps makes pro debut

Wyatt Sanford and Richard Ramirez each collected a solo homer despite the Bradenton Marauders (14-23, 45-57) 4-2 loss against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (18-19, 55-47) on Wednesday from LECOM Park. Eddie King Jr. extended his on-base streak to 23 games, while Tre Phelps worked a walk in his professional debut.

In the bottom of the first, Sanford lifted a solo homer off Fort Myers starter Callan Fang, putting Bradenton up 1-0.

After the Mighty Mussels etched a run in the second inning and three in the third, the Marauders answered back in the bottom of the sixth. Ramirez blasted a solo homer, cutting the deficit 4-2.

Bradenton went scoreless the rest of the way to finalize a 4-2 win for Fort Myers.

Hendry Chivilli (2-1) earned the win, letting up a run on a hit, a walk, and a strikeout over 2.2 innings. Zander Mueth (0-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on a hit, three walks, and four strikeouts over 2.1 frames. Michael Hilker (4) notched the save, letting up a hit and a walk with five strikeouts through 2.1 innings.

The Marauders and Mighty Mussels play game three of a six-game series on Thursday, with the first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
