Savannah Police Capture Fugitive Wanted in Florida Shooting Investigation
Savannah police apprehended a fugitive early Sunday morning, concluding a multi-state search. Ronnie Morton was taken into custody as his Amtrak train stopped at the station on Seaboard Coastline Drive near Telfair Road around 2:30 a.m.
Morton was wanted by authorities in Manatee County, Florida, in connection to an ongoing shooting investigation that resulted in non-life-threatening injuries. Savannah police coordinated the arrest, assembling a team of nearly a dozen officers at the train station to ensure his capture.
The arrest unfolded without incident, with Morton being escorted from the train to a police vehicle before undergoing a search and being placed into custody.
