The Bradenton Marauders (19-31, 50-65) earned an 8-6 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads (22-28, 59-57) behind Jack Scanlon’s grand slam on Thursday from LECOM Park. Chris Rembert increased his hitting streak to five games with a two-hit night, while Claudio Estelie notched the save in his Single-A debut.
The Marauders offense began the game on fire, putting up six runs in the bottom of the first off Hammerheads starter Jake Clemente. Chris Rembert walked, stole second and third, and came around to score on a wild pitch to make it 1-0. Eddie King Jr. and Richard Ramirez worked back-to-back walks, while Brent Iredale was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Cristian Jauregui walked, scoring King Jr. to make it 2-0. A grand slam by Scanlon put Bradenton up 6-0.
After Jupiter tied it up in the top of the sixth, Bradenton responded in the bottom half of the inning. Rembert doubled, moved to third on a throwing error to put a runner in scoring position. Another throwing error allowed Rembert to score and make it a 7-6 ballgame.
In the bottom of the eighth, Rembert singled, moved to second on a wild pitch, and reached third on a stolen base. A single from Antonio Pimentel scored Rembert to make it 8-6.
Estelie closed it down in the ninth, finalizing an 8-6 for the Marauders.
