State College of Florida’s Coding Academy is expanding access to its accelerated technology courses, allowing students ages 16 to 18 to develop career-ready skills in coding and web development.
The online, instructor-led courses are designed for beginners and run for eight weeks. Students can develop skills in Python programming, WordPress development and UX/UI web design using tools including HTML, CSS and Figma. The courses are intended to prepare students for industry certification and future opportunities in technology-related fields.
The Python Coding Specialist course focuses on building a foundation in Python programming and developing coding skills that can be applied across technology fields, including artificial intelligence. The course includes the Knowledge Pillars Python Coding Specialist certification test. Classes begin Oct. 13 and continue through Dec. 17, meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
SCF is also offering UX/UI Web Development, which combines the creative and technical aspects of website development. Students learn UX/UI design using Figma along with web coding using HTML and CSS. The program includes the Knowledge Pillars HTML/CSS Coding Specialist certification test.
One UX/UI session runs Oct. 12 through Dec. 16 and meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Another session begins Oct. 13 and continues through Dec. 17, meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The expanded eligibility provides high school-age students with another option for gaining technology skills and working toward industry-recognized certification while exploring potential education and career paths.
