School Board Names New High School: Rangeland High School
The School Board of Manatee County voted unanimously to officially name the district’s newest high school Rangeland High School, marking an important milestone in the development of the new campus currently under construction in Lakewood Ranch.
Rangeland High School is being built on approximately 85 acres at the southwest corner of Rangeland Parkway and Post Boulevard and is scheduled to open in August 2027. The school will initially serve approximately 1,070 students and is designed to support future enrollment growth in the region.
During the School Board meeting on April 28, 2026, the School Board expressed their appreciation for the input received from families, staff, and community members throughout the naming process. There were 1,663 names suggested in the community survey that was open from mid-February to mid-April.
“The level of community engagement reflects how deeply our families and residents care about our schools and the experiences our students will have there,” said School District Superintendent Dr. Laurie Breslin said. “We are excited for this new chapter in our Manatee County’s history and for this school to become another source of community pride for current and future generations.”
The School District plans to announce the founding principal for Rangeland High School this summer. Additional details, including the school’s mascot, colors, and leadership team, will be announced closer to the opening of Rangeland High School.
