School Board to Consider Student Conduct, Budget, Safety and Academic Updates at July 21 Meeting
The Manatee County School Board will meet Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., with an agenda that includes student achievement, summer learning, school safety, policy updates and financial planning for the upcoming school year.
Board members are scheduled to begin the meeting with a Soar in 4 Appreciation Presentation, recognizing efforts supporting early literacy and student reading success. They will also receive a Summer Programming and Professional Learning Presentation highlighting the district’s academic programs and staff development initiatives held during the summer months.
According to the presentation materials, the district’s 3rd Grade Summer Reading Camp served 390 retained third-grade students across nine sites. Students received five hours of daily reading instruction, two explicit and systematic phonics lessons each day, practice with reading benchmarks, grade-level texts, writing activities and FAST-style assessment questions. Teachers also conducted daily read-aloud sessions using chapter books, with each student receiving a personal copy to keep.
The board is also expected to consider 39 consent agenda items, along with proposed amendments to the district’s Code of Student Conduct and the Student Progression Plan.
Financial matters on the agenda include approval to publish the required public hearing notice for adopting the district’s tentative millage rates, an important step in the annual budget process.
Additional items include consideration of a second amendment to the Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy Charter School Program grant and a review of the district’s School Safety Requirements and Monitoring Reports for the fourth quarter of the 2025-2026 school year.
Residents wishing to address the board may register in advance to provide public comment. The meeting will also be streamed live on Manatee Educational Television (MSTV).
The School Board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for July 28, 2026.
