School Board to Discuss Policy Changes and Future Plans This Week
The Manatee County School Board will convene this week to discuss significant policy changes and key district developments during its regular meeting on Tuesday and a workshop on Friday.
The proposed policy changes under review are adjustments to Board Member residence area modifications, guidelines for public expressions and proclamations, regulations surrounding Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) in school athletics, and the removal of support staff's ability to transfer sick leave to other employees. Additionally, discussions will cover the use of artificial intelligence in education and updates on school safety and security measures.
Tuesday’s meeting agenda will also feature a special recognition of James Tillman’s contributions to the community, a review of English Language Arts (ELA) and Reading Progress Monitoring 2 Assessment results, budget amendments, and the official naming of the upcoming elementary school at Rye Ranch as Rye Ranch Elementary School.
Friday’s workshop will center on a Superintendent’s report reviewing school attendance zones, which may impact student placement and district planning moving forward.
