School Bus Collides with Cow in Manatee County; No Students Injured
A school bus traveling in eastern Manatee County struck and killed a cow Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers reported that the crash occurred during the early morning hours as the bus was transporting students along a rural roadway. The cow had entered the roadway prior to the collision. Authorities said the bus driver was unable to avoid the animal.
No students on board the bus were injured in the incident. The driver also reported no injuries. Emergency responders evaluated the scene, and students were transferred to another bus to continue on to school.
The cow died at the scene. Officials did not immediately release information about how the animal accessed the roadway or identify the owner.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
