School District Seeks Public Input to Name New Lakewood Ranch High School
The School District of Manatee County is inviting the community to help name a new high school currently under construction in Lakewood Ranch near Post Boulevard and Rangeland Parkway.
Public nominations for the new school’s name will be accepted through Friday, April 10. District officials have indicated that, while all submissions will be considered, the School Board prefers regional and geographic names that reflect the surrounding Lakewood Ranch community and area.
The campus, temporarily referred to as High School AAA, is being built to accommodate the county’s growing student population. It will be the first high school in Manatee County designed with collegiate-style lecture halls for classroom instruction, a feature intended to create a more university-like learning environment.
In addition to academic spaces, the school will include a modern turf athletic field, a rubberized track, an auditorium, and a gymnasium, providing expanded opportunities for athletics, performing arts, and extracurricular programs.
The new high school is scheduled to open in August 2027 with students in grades 9 and 10. An additional grade level will be added each year, with grade 11 opening in August 2028 and grade 12 in August 2029.
District leaders are encouraging residents, families, and future students to participate in the naming process and help shape the identity of Manatee County’s newest high school as it prepares to serve generations of students in the rapidly growing Lakewood Ranch area.
