Scoops That Support: United Way Suncoast Teams Up with Jeni’s Ice Cream for Sweet Fundraiser
Ice cream lovers can make a big impact with a simple scoop during a special summer fundraiser benefiting United Way Suncoast. On Wednesday, July 16, from 4 to 7 p.m., Jeni’s Ice Cream will donate 25% of all sales at three participating Tampa Bay-area locations to support local children and families.
The fundraiser coincides with National Summer Learning Week and supports United Way Suncoast’s mission to advance early learning, improve third-grade literacy, and empower families through financial security. Participating locations include Jeni’s Scoop Shops at The Pearl and Sparkman Wharf in Tampa, and University Town Center in Sarasota.
The event also marks the expansion of United Way Suncoast’s “Summer Care” program to all five counties in its service area—Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota, and DeSoto. Summer Care provides low- or no-cost educational programming for students in grades K–8, designed to mitigate learning loss during the summer months. The initiative addresses the “Summer Slide,” which can result in significant declines in reading and math skills when schools are out.
Families who attend the fundraiser will find more than just sweet treats. Each location will feature fun and educational activities for children, including coloring sheets and take-home stickers designed to reinforce the joy of learning.
Founded in 1924, United Way Suncoast is entering its second century of service, with a focus on lifting communities and giving every family the “Freedom to Rise.” The organization partners with local nonprofits, donors, volunteers, and businesses to strengthen regional impact.
Whether you're passionate about early literacy, summer learning, or just love ice cream, this event offers a delicious way to make a difference—one scoop at a time.
