Sheriff’s Office Raids Cortez Road Arcade in Illegal Gambling Investigation
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has shut down a Cortez Road arcade following an investigation into illegal gambling operations.
On Thursday, Special Investigations detectives executed a search warrant at Good Times Arcade, located at 105 Cortez Road, after receiving a tip and conducting undercover visits that confirmed the use of electronic slot and gambling machines.
Authorities seized 55 full-size arcade-style slot machines, 27 computers, and other electronic equipment used for illegal gaming, along with more than $160,000 in proceeds. Witnesses observed at least three box trucks being loaded with the seized machines during the raid.
The business was immediately closed, and a cease and desist letter was issued to management. While no customers or employees were arrested at the scene, the business owner remains under investigation and charges are pending.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
