SHIP Housing Rehabilitation and Replacement Funding Available to Manatee County Homeowners
Low- and very-low-income homeowners in Manatee County have a limited-time opportunity to apply for assistance through the SHIP Housing Rehabilitation and Replacement Program, with applications open now through January 9, 2026.
The program offers a 0% interest, deferred-payment loan with a 20-year term to help eligible residents make required code-related repairs to their single-family homes or to replace dilapidated housing structures that no longer meet safety standards. The goal is to correct substandard housing conditions while improving residents' health, safety, and overall quality of life.
Funding may be used for necessary structural, electrical, plumbing, roofing, or other code-compliance repairs, as well as complete replacement of homes that are no longer suitable for rehabilitation. The program is specifically designed to support households with special needs and those with limited financial resources.
Entry forms are available online at mymanatee.org under the Housing Rehabilitation/Replacement Program section. Completed applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026.
Residents who need assistance completing or submitting the online entry form can call 941-749-3030. Early submission is encouraged, as funding is limited and eligibility requirements apply.

The 0% deferred payment structure is smart for tackling the substandard housing backlog without forcing immediate financial burden on low-income homeowners. What's intresting is how this targets code compliance specifically rather than just cosmetic upgrades, which addresses safety issues that tend to compound over time. I've worked with similar programs befor and the tight application window (just 5 days) usually means they're rationing limited funds, so early submission matters way more than most applicants realize. The replacement option for homes beyond rehabilitation is a good touch since some structures hit a point where repair costs exceed replacement value.
