Some Manatee County Roads Will See Lower Speed Limits Starting This Week
Manatee County officials have announced changes to speed limits on several local roads that will take effect over the next few weeks to improve road safety and consistency.
The county says the changes come after officials identified several streets where multiple posted speed limits along short segments could confuse drivers. By standardizing speeds across entire stretches of roadway, the county hopes to reduce sudden braking and speeding inconsistencies that can contribute to crashes.
Among the early examples of adjusted limits are 57th Avenue West and East, which now have a consistent 30 mph limit along the entire corridor, and 26th Avenue West, where the speed limit has been set at 30 mph after previously ranging from 35 to 40 mph.
Drivers in Manatee County are encouraged to watch for new signs and updated speed limits over the coming weeks and to obey the posted limits for improved safety. County officials say the changes are part of a broader effort to make local roads more predictable and safer for all users.
