Week 7 of the high school football season brought a lighter schedule for Manatee County, with several local programs on a bye while four county teams took the field Friday night.
Southeast High School delivered the biggest local victory of the week, defeating Osceola 45-6 on the road. The Seminoles entered the game looking for their first win of the season and broke through in convincing fashion, putting 45 points on the board while holding Osceola to a single touchdown.
Manatee High School faced a difficult non-district matchup against Columbia High School. The Hurricanes fell 51-28 at home as Columbia remained unbeaten. Manatee entered the game following a 30-27 victory over Sumner the previous week.
Bayshore also played at home, hosting Wesley Chapel in a non-district contest. Wesley Chapel came away with a 27-7 victory over the Bruins.
Saint Stephen’s Episcopal hosted Canterbury in another non-district matchup. Canterbury controlled the game and defeated the Falcons 46-6.
The reduced Week 7 schedule was the result of several Manatee County varsity programs having the week off. Braden River, Bradenton Christian, Lakewood Ranch, Palmetto and Parrish Community were among the area teams on a bye.
The schedule fills back out next week. On Friday, Oct. 9, Bayshore travels to Cardinal Mooney, Southeast visits Braden River, Lakewood Ranch travels to Venice, Palmetto visits Manatee and Parrish Community travels to Sumner. Saint Stephen’s has a bye next week, while Bradenton Christian returns to action Thursday, Oct. 8, at home against Shorecrest Prep.
