Southwest Florida Honor Flight is inviting community members to help honor local veterans by participating in Operation Mail Call ahead of its next Honor Flight mission on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The organization is collecting thank-you cards, letters of encouragement, notes of appreciation and children’s drawings that will be distributed to veterans during Mission XXV. Mail Call is designed to give veterans a collection of personal messages recognizing their military service as part of their Honor Flight experience.
Families, schools, churches, businesses, civic organizations and other community groups are encouraged to participate.

All Mail Call items should be received by Saturday, Oct. 10. Veteran-specific mail arriving after the deadline is not guaranteed to be delivered and may be returned to the sender.
The organization asks participants to send flat mail no larger than 5 by 7 inches. Candy, glitter, bulky items and monetary gifts should not be included.
Southwest Florida Honor Flight organizes trips that give veterans an opportunity to visit memorials in Washington, D.C., dedicated to honoring their service and sacrifice.
