Standoff in West Bradenton Ends With Suspect Found Dead

A tense standoff in a West Bradenton neighborhood ended late Wednesday after deputies with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office found a barricaded suspect dead inside a home.

The incident began when deputies attempted to serve a search warrant at a residence on 63rd Avenue West. Authorities reported that someone inside fired multiple gunshots from behind a closed door. Deputies retreated from the house without injuries, and the Sheriff’s Office called in its SWAT team.

Neighbors in surrounding homes were evacuated as SWAT members attempted to communicate with the suspect, who remained inside. The standoff lasted more than three hours before law enforcement entered the home and discovered the suspect deceased.

The Sheriff’s Office closed 63rd Avenue West in both directions between 5th Street West and 13th Street West during the investigation, which remained active as of Wednesday night.
